Dear LISA Members:
As I mentioned at the close of the 2018 LISA Spring Conference in Orlando, a number of significant changes will be implemented by LISA’s Board in the coming weeks, one of which is a change to the Membership structure of the association. On or about December 1st, annual invoices for Association dues will be sent out to all current LISA members. These notices will reflect a slight increase in the dues payable by Regular Members (to be renamed “Voting Member”) from $8,500 per year to $10,000 per year or $2,500 per quarter. In addition, a number of current LISA Members have elected to become Charter Members, each of which will contribute $50,000 per year in dues to the association.
Going forward and effective on December 1, 2018, the Associate Member category will be permanently retired. Memberships currently held under this category will need to elect to change their status to either the Voting or Charter membership category. Similarly, new applicants for membership will choose from these same two categories of membership.
Voting members will continue to enjoy the benefits of LISA membership including discounted attendance fees for LISA Events, access to Members-only resources on LISA’s web site, discounts for events held by ELSA and BVZL, and benefits associated with LISA’s marketing and outreach efforts to consumers and others to promote the life settlement industry and the many benefits it provides to seniors and the critically-ill.
In addition to the benefits of LISA membership, Charter Members will also be admitted to LISA’s new Public Policy Council (the “PPC”). This group of leading life settlement firms will drive LISA’s efforts in the legislative and regulatory arena to address issues affecting the industry and particularly to promote the benefits of life settlements to regulators, consumers and the public at large.
As part of LISA’s re-design and re-focus on the public policy landscape, the PPC will appoint four (4) of its members to LISA’s Board of Directors while Voting Members will nominate and elect five (5) Board Members on a periodic basis. As has been the case in recent years, LISA’s Board of Directors will elect Board officers from among its nine (9) Board Members during the Annual Member’s Meeting. Also, because LISA will now conduct two events each year, the 2019 Annual Member’s Meeting will be held during the 2019 Fall Conference, October 13-15 in Nashville, TN.
LISA Committees are also open to every member wishing to volunteer their time in support of LISA’s many initiatives, including Market Metrics, Membership Development, Conference Planning & Sponsorship, Finance & Auditing, and Public Communications. I encourage you to get involved and join a committee. If you have an interest in doing so, please contact me or the appropriate committee chairperson (a list of committees and their current members is included with this notice). The same is true of sponsorship opportunities; LISA Members can subscribe for an annual commitment and secure the opportunity to support the association and promote their business across all LISA events and platforms and, LISA members can also choose to sponsor at events, sponsor speakers or certain attendee groups and other elements of LISA gatherings.
I know some of this information involves a number of significant changes, some of which you may have heard about through the industry “grapevine”, and about which you may have questions. I encourage you to contact me or any Board member directly at any time. A list of LISA’s current Board Members is attached for reference. We want to hear your feedback, ideas and concerns and we want every LISA member to be aware of and understand where we are and where we are going. So, don’t hesitate to call or email at any time and I and the rest of the Board will do our best to address your questions and consider your input.
As always, I want to thank you for your continued support of LISA and your commitment to the life settlement industry. As we go forward, I will do what I can to keep you informed of LISA’s efforts, the implementation of the changes in furtherance of LISA objectives and to address your ideas, comments, suggestions and ideas
With highest regards,
Chairman, LISA Board of Directors
